Reports To: IE specialist – MFG control

Job Status: Hourly

Expected Length of Internship:

  • Expect to have 4-6 months internship period
  • As an internship company, we allow flexibility to enrol in classes while working as an intern, as long as it doesn’t interfere with the essential functions of the position.

Experience:

  • Have learned or trained in Application of Process Improvement tools and methods

Education:

  • Technical degrees, but refer Industrial Engineering/Management Majors.
  • Must currently be enrolled in a Bachelors, Master’s or PhD program who is fulfilling a graduation requirement for their degree.
  • First Solar encourages all interns to register with their University.

Required Skills/Competencies:

  • Pay close attention to detail in all aspects of the job
  • Have analytical skills and being familiar with effective problem solving techniques (such as: Fishbone, 5why, etc.)
  • Good English communication skills (both oral & written)
  • Have ability to interface/working with multinational environment where people have diverse backgrounds at varying levels of the organization
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook applications
  • Have solid self-motivation, Strong willing to learn & “Can-do” approach

Basic Internship Scope (Project):

a) Key expectations of the intern:

  • Lead Cycle Time (CT) improvement project to reduce the gap between current process cycle time versus Standard condition (POR) at constraint operation.
  • Working with Finishing Operation Engineer to improve Operational Efficiency (OE) at constraint operation.

b) Responsibility

  • Participate in the Daily Constraint Operation Performance Review.
  • Observe production products/processes and work with the Manufacturing Engineer and Finishing operation Engineer (FOE) to improve Cycle Time and OE.
  • Collect, record, analyze, and present findings as it relates to CT and OE goals.
  • Performs other duties as required or directed
  • Upon the completion of this internship, the intern is required to present their accomplishments and project summary to Department leader/supervisors.
